1. Symptoms during pregnancy

Symptoms of yeast infections are more common in females during pregnancy, especially during the second and the third trimester wherein a female may develop a yeast infection. If the mother suffered from a yeast infection during childbirth, then there are possible chances that the child may develop an oral thrush or oral yeast infection which can be easily treated. If left untreated, the oral thrush can infect your breast if you breastfeed your child and breastfeeding could become painful.

2. Vaginal discharge

Females with recurrent yeast infections or a possible yeast infection may have a thick vaginal discharge that may or may not smell. This vaginal discharge may be white and look like cottage cheese. At times, such vaginal discharge may also be an indication of cysts in the ovaries. At certain times, this might not be an indication of yeast infection but simply your bodyโ€™s natural discharge.

3. Urination

Both males and females may feel a burning sensation during urination. For males, this pain may be a little dull but for some females, the pain may be moderate and can cause an extreme urge to scratch, leading to discomfort during urination. This discomfort may also be an indication of urinary tract infections.

4. Anal itching

Yeast infection from the reproductive organ may also pass to the anal region of an individual and may result in constant anal itching that might be accompanied by rashes and burning irritation. Anal itching may also cause the yeast infection to spread to other areas of your body. In such cases, you must immediately consult a doctor.

5. Pain during intercourse

Yeast infections may cause dull to moderate pain during sexual intercourse. Women with yeast infection might also have severe pain which may make it difficult for them to enjoy intercourse. This may be accompanied by small red bumps around the swollen vulva region. Men may have pain or burning sensation at their genital organs during penetration or ejaculation. Some of them may even feel a lingering pain soon after sexual intercourse.

6. Redness and swelling

Yeast infections might cause a burning sensation in the vulva. It may also result in redness and swelling of the vagina. There might be some rashes that may itch. Even males who may have yeast infection on their genitalia may have redness or soreness along with rashes. Yeast infections on the skin may cause burning rashes. Oral yeast infections may cause swelling of the mouth and pain near the jaw area.

7. Vulvitis

Vulvitis is a symptom as well as disease. This is the inflammation of external genital organs of the suffering female. The inflammation of vulva or the external region is called vulvitis, which may be a sign of yeast infection. This may be caused by infections in urinary tract, respiratory or other infections along with inner injury, diabetes or taking of oral contraceptives. At times, this may even by caused by perfumed vaginal sprays or STDs and soap.
