Sleep Your Best With These Four Easy Tips

Quality sleep can have such a positive impact on your overall physical and mental health. Here, we talk about some tips and tricks to have the perfect night’s sleep!

1.  Hydrate (but not too much)

Staying hydrated is so important to your health – and your quality sleep! You should aim to have at least an 8-ounce glass of water before bed, but you don’t want to overdo it. By drinking too much water before sleepy time, you might have to make a trip to the bathroom in the middle of the night. You don’t want that to disrupt your sleep, so keeping your water intake minimal before bed is ideal.

2.  Avoid Alcohol

A glass of wine or whisky might sound nice for a nightcap, but it could have a negative impact on your quality of sleep. While it might help you to drift to sleep, your sleep might be disturbed as the alcohol is in your working through your bloodstream. It would be better to opt for another beverage like warm tea with some added honey.

3.  Less Screen Time

We live in a world where a large majority of our entertainment is at our fingertips or on a screen. While you shouldn’t overconsume electronics in general, it is especially important to be mindful of it before you drift off to sleep.

Instead of turning on Nextflix to watch reruns of Stranger Things or scrolling TikTok for hours as you lay in bed, opt for reading a book! There are a ton of wonderful reading options with even some books designed to help you fall asleep.

4.  Journal It Out

Journaling is great anytime, but writing in a notebook or diary before you go to sleep can help you drift a little bit sooner. There are so many thoughts that go through our minds each and every day. At night, these thoughts are scattered and all over the place. Writing them out can help you organize what is going on in that busy brain of yours! It can also help if you are feeling stressed or anxious about anything. We all know how impossible it is to fall asleep with an unsettled mind. Take a few minutes to jot down what’s going on up there before hopping into bed.

Quality sleep is hard to come by, but it is possible! The benefits of good sleep are plentiful. The grogginess, lack of energy, and puffy eyes are just some of the negative side effects of a bad night’s sleep. Coffee can help with energy to an extent, and under eye microneedling can help with puffy eyes, but the best you can do is try and get better sleep by implementing some of the tips offered here. Sleep tight!
