1. Tenderness in the legs

At times, effect of the backache will be felt in your legs. They could turn numb, feel weak or there could be a sting of pain running through them.

2. Stiff waist and muscular discomfort

Sometimes, backaches can even reach the waist, and can easily cause the waist and muscles around the waist to get sore and stiff. In fact, muscles in various parts of the body could feel weak or numb. In some cases, muscles on only one side of the body will throb with pain.

3. Painful movement

A throbbing backache can be felt while carrying out a simple motion or movement. You might feel a dull ache while coughing or sneezing, and a stab of pain could also be felt during bowel movements. A person an easily go through spasms and cramps if they have a backache. A pain that usually shows up when you move any part of your body and subsides if you are at rest is a clear sign of a backache.

4. Immobility

Although this occurs only in the most severe cases, a back pain that causes you to become immobile is not unheard of. It can limit the range of motion of the neck as well as waist, making the muscles so stiff that you will be unable to move at all. Loss of reflexes with a back pain is also quite a common symptom.

If the pain is due to pressure exerted on the sciatic nerves, then you will feel a mild tingling sensation in the hips as well as legs.

6. Pain in the neck or headaches

Along with a severe ache which can persist in either the upper or lower back, other parts of the body close to the spine can also pulsate with pain. Backaches are usually accompanied by pain in the neck and headaches are also quite a common side effect, especially in the morning. The pain can even radiate to your hands. Generally, such pain is sharp and localized.

7. Throes of pain during a physical activity

An unrelenting pain in the back when engaging in most physical activities is a common symptom. Apart from jumping and bending, even sitting and standing can make your back throb, especially if you have been in the same position for a long time. Any taxing activity, like lifting objects or intense physical movements, will send a tinge through your back. Some people could have difficulty trying to get up from their bed every morning. Others could find it hard to stand up straight for a long time. If they try to stand upright, then they feel shrill muscle spasms in the back.
