1. True strength

It’s been 16 years now that I have had eczema and I have tried everything to get rid of it. I was born with this problem and my parents used to take extra care of me to make me feel good but when I entered school I realized that life wasn’t easy. My classmates avoided me and I had to sit alone. I never thought about it in a negative way but as I grew I felt lonely and the silence around troubled me. I started hating my life and one day I broke in front of my mother. She sat with me and holding my hand told me that crying because of hardships is bad. She told me that God created all of us and crying for such a problem will make him sad too. We have got a beautiful gift of life and no one is perfect so we should thank God for blessing us to have this life. Her words still echo in my ears and whenever I feel bad and alone I recall that day and strengthen myself to overcome any difficult situation. Trust me it really works.

2. Stay engaged

It is true that you can’t really stop scratching if you are suffering from eczema. Same thing happened to me. I am 20 years old college student and suffering from this problem since past 6 months. Medication has helped a bit but once I start scratching my skin it becomes difficult to control. A week ago while I was driving to college I felt itching in my right arm. I started scratching my arm and it started bleeding. Road was quite busy and I was getting late. It wasn’t possible for me to park car at the road side so I thought of distracting myself. I started listing to rock music as I am a hard core Metallica fan. In few minutes I actually forgot about the itching and realized that I have reached college parking. The music helped me overcome my weakness and I have decided to use such distracting techniques to get over my eczema.

3. Tips to remember

I am 32 years old working lady and I got eczema when I was 25 years old. We had gone to visit a remote branch of our department when I first discovered rashes on my face. In the beginning even doctors could not identify the real problem and thought it was some kind of allergy. I remained on anti allergic treatment for months but it couldn’t help improve my problem, in fact it worsened. I was fed up of strong medicines, ointments, creams etc. I decided to make a detailed study about the problem and contacted number of people suffering from the same. I have joined various eczema supporting groups and have attended number of presentations and workshops on it. Finally I could make certain conclusion after detailed study of 5 years and would like to share to help other sufferers. It is good to have lots of pulses like peas and lentils etc, abandon use of detergents, lotions, shampoos that are non herbal. Do not eat meat, avoid using plastic utensils, dishes, bowls etc, have as much water as you can, do not take stress and stay happy. These are few things that actually helped me and I hope they will help you too.

4. The lost hope

I am 20 years old and wanted to pursue modeling as my career as I have got sharp features and naturally slim body. I was really happy as I could easily convince my parents to join this unconventional profession. But, the real problem started a year back when I got first eczema rash on my leg. In the beginning I just ignored it thinking it could be some insect bite or allergy but slowly it attacked my entire body from head to toe. It was the most disgusting feeling I have ever had. I did not leave any doctor in the city and outside the city but nobody could cure my problem. It was heartbreaking but I didn’t lose hope. I miss my smooth skin and well shaped evenly tanned legs. I miss my being pretty but I am still fighting to recover from the situation and am sure that my bravery will help me recover faster.

5. Go green

My mother says that my eczema began when I was a baby. It was always there as far as I remember. My skin used to turn scary red and I would scratch it badly. We tried everything that was possible from creams to salt water baths to various other precautions but nothing helped. I remember sitting in salt water tub for hours to get some relief. Fortunately two months back we went to Canada to visit my aunt for a holiday. She had grown Aloe Vera plant in her garden and suggested us to use it. There was not much difference in the beginning but I continued using it even after returning home. Amazingly, after a month I could feel some improvement and my condition is still improving. I am hoping to get rid of it completely and we have also started growing Aloe Vera in our garden.
