1. Tonsils were the real culprit

I was sixteen when I first detected bad breath which was mild at first and worsened within a year. When I was seventeen, I couldn’t leave the house without a pack of strong gum to hide the bad breath which became quite apparent to people nearby. The condition of my breath worsened to the extent that the saliva started tasting bad and pungent. I had a strong feeling that the bad smell was coming from my tonsils. My parents took an immediate appointment with the GP. He diagnosed me with severe halitosis and tonsil stones and advised me to get my tonsils removed. It was a miracle because within days after having gotten my tonsils operated, I experienced a drastic improvement in the quality of my breath! It has been over a year now, and I am free of bad breath and can finally open my mouth without feeling ashamed!

3. An embarrassing day

I had been suffering from chronic bad breath for fourteen years. I work in an industry where my job involves a lot of public communication and having bad breath is most certainly a setback in a workplace where you keep meeting and interacting with clients everyday. I felt miserable when I could see people cringe when I opened my mouth. It used to make me feel very uncomfortable and I became depressed to the extent that I shunned my social life and stopped going out with my friends. I used to frequent the pharmacy a lot and ended up trying all the mouthwashes and toothpastes that were available over the counter but nothing worked. Then I came across an article that talked about the relationship between bad breath and a high consumption of dairy products. It struck close home to me because I did have a greater intake of dairy products. I started cutting down on milk, cheese and yoghurts. It was tough for me because I thrive on milk, but I didnโ€™t want to leave any stone unturned and wanted to see if it really worked. Within a week, the thick coating on my tongue vanished and I no longer had to scrape it clean. I also got positive reviews from my close buddies, who said that the foul smell had somehow gone. It’s been a year now since I won over bad breath and continue to follow a diet that is extremely low on milk products.

4. My best home remedy

I have had chronic halitosis for years now. I have tried everything possible, from medicated toothpastes to mouthwashes, but nothing seems to work. The best temporary relief I have is to chew on a strong mint gum to mask the foul breath odor. During the time I was trying to find a cure for bad breath, I bumped into an old friend who advised me to try Bentonite clay detox for bad breath. This detox therapy requires a homemade simple concoction by mixing one tablespoon of bentonite clay powder with a glass of fresh apple juice and then drink it before breakfast and after dinner. He also told me to consume more carbs because that would help in the treatment. Surprisingly, this home remedy has freed me from bad breath within three months after thirty years of failure in trying to cure it!

5. Right medication really worked

I have been trying to get rid of bad breath for years now. At first, I thought I wasn’t cleaning my teeth with the right toothpaste, so I used to keep trying out different kinds of toothpastes for getting rid of the foul smell. Slowly, I became over-conscious and the thought of spreading bad breath by opening my mouth became more of a psychological problem for me. A friend of mine thought I had developed candida which also leads to bad breath, which I did not have. However, I did have acid reflux near around the same time, which actually worsened the foul smell. I have always had a sinusitis problem since I was a kid and the sinus symptoms started worsening to the point that I needed immediate medical attention. After going through a cat scan, my doctor said that I had a maxillary cyst on the right side and this was the reason behind the excessive mucus formation in my mouth which led to acidity in the mouth and bad breath. My doctor prescribed some strong antibiotics for trying to cure the cyst, rather than going in for a surgery. Luckily, the medicines worked and it improved the acid reflux and also the bad breath in my mouth!

6. Homeopathic treatment did magic

On my 25th birthday, someone left a big bottle of mouthwash in a gift box! I knew my breath smelt bad, but I didn’t know that it was that bad! This little incident left me ashamed to the extent that I became very conscious about opening my mouth in front of my colleagues. I seriously started experimenting with different kinds of medicated toothpastes and mouthwashes, hoping for a cure, but the terrible smell just wouldn’t go away. The bad breath was getting even more apparent and I found it embarrassing to go to work with a breath that smelt like crap. I tried every remedy possible and even went to the dentist, hoping that it would be some sort of curable dental disorder, and I was turned down as he told me that my teeth and gums were perfectly fine. Then one day, while I was surfing the Internet, trying to find some possible treatment for bad breath, I came across an article that talked about homeopathy as being the perfect cure for halistosis. I went to a homeopath on the recommendation of a friend and started my treatment, Within one week, I could notice a huge difference in the quality of my breath. It took six months of homeopathic treatment and I can proudly say that I do not have bad breath any longer!
