1. Eat toast for breakfast

A study was carried out in Tufts University where it was found that the people who chalked out carbohydrates from their diet did not perform well in the memory tasks which means that eliminating carbs from diet harms memory. This is because brain cells require carbs to convert them into body glucose and that provides us the energy. Take a whole grain muffin or a toast with egg scrambled in it in the breakfast. This breakfast will be a good start.

2. Take a kickboxing class before work

Exercise is the best way to raise blood flow to the noggin. It burns the glucose and increases the level of oxygen as well. Kickboxing is a high impact intense workout and can make you efficient in learning the vocabulary words at a 20 percent faster rate.

3. Change the font on your morning memo

As per a research that had been published in the journal “Cognition”, you can improve the long term memory by changing the writing font. Use a little tougher font other than Times New Roman. When you switch on to a difficult font, the brain requires working a little harder than at the usual times.

4. Do a web search during your lunch time

As per the study in the University of California, it has been suggested that you can spare an hour everyday and search something online that interests you. For example, if you wish to go on a vacation then you can locate different options to make it a memorable one. Apart from that, the frontal lobe of the brain gets stimulated which is responsible for thinking and this will improve your short term memory. But when the task is easy, such as facebook and orkut, this trick won’t help you.

5. Eye your parking spot

Do you always forget the spot where you park your car? After you park your car at the grocery store, try a simple trick. All you need to do is to get out of the car and stand still for about 30 seconds. At this time take a look on both the sides and see where you have parked your vehicle. The researchers in England at Manchester Metropolitan University state that doing such easy eye movements increase and improve the long term memory retention by 10 percent. This mild increase in the memory level might prove beneficial in taking care of small piece of information that you tend to forget which is great in its own way.

6. Drink a little with dinner

Drinking a lot (more than required) definitely brings memory loss to people. But, it has been found recently that a little drink along with dinner can boost up the memory by cutting down the memory loss issues. It has been seen that the ones who took a few pegs of drinks in a week showed less memory based impairment as compared to those women who did not consumed any drink at all. The reason for this could be that the people who drink in a controlled manner lead a healthier lifestyle than those who do not drink. Researchers say that the anti-inflammatory properties of alcohol could also contribute to this reason.

7. Floss before bed

When you floss your gums, the bacteria can’t invade the gums. Infact, the gums do not get inflamed, when you floss them. It is also a good way to smile. The bacteria can move into the bloodstream if you don’t clean the gums and these bacteria are capable enough to inflame your entire body. This inflammation can hit the brain as well. Keep the absentmindedness at a bay and floss atleast twice in a day.
