How does health calculator for calorie work?

I’m an 18 year old female. My weight is 170 and I’m 5’5”. I’m a college student and I walk around to and from classes a lot. But other than that, I don’t get much other exercises. How many calories do I burn per day (considering bmr and activity level)? All online calculators yield different results. So, if I wanted to lose 2lbs per week, I would just have to subtract 1000 calories from the number I receive above? How does that work?
