1. Lesson for life

I had gall stones and had them removed last year. Although I am feeling better (a lot) than I did then, I still have trouble with my diet. People told me I would be able to go back to eating what I did before. NOT TRUE! I still watch what I am eating or drinking. It was a wake up call to take care of my diet and me. Take care of yourself and do not try anything without taking the doctorโ€™s advice.

2. My success story

I had my gallbladder removed surgically eight days ago. The operation went smoothly, however one of the surgeons told me that many fell out and they had to remove some stones one by one. My recovery has been swift and pain free. I have had virtually no ill effects from the operation. I was in hospital overnight and left next day. I was fine at home, only tired. I feel better without my gall bladder as it caused a great deal of pain. I had keyhole surgery. I now intend to watch my diet more closely and allow little fat in my diet.

3. I never left hope

I just got diagnosed today. My symptoms were not like those listed previously. I had no pain, just a feeling of discomfort. My stomach was making strange gurgling sounds that had nothing to do with hunger. I felt bloated, gaseous, and my upper abdomen was tender. My friend convinced me to get it checked out, and sure enough I was diagnosed with multiple gallstones and my doc recommended surgery. It is not an uncommon problem so I am not very worried, I have faith in my doctors and expect it would work out fine.

4. I feel gradual improvement

While walking toward my vehicle at a gas station, I had a severe onset of pain, centered above my belly button. It ran across my abdomen, like a belt. Then there was the sensation of not being able to inhale, like a large air bubble was blocking my breathing. Dizziness and fainting sensation overcame me and eventually my knees buckled. I dropped to the ground. I sat upright on the ground, my breathing recovered, but I felt uneasy and dizzy. I got inside my car and sat for 15-20 minutes before driving myself to the ER. I am undergoing treatment for gallstones and I am improving day by day just by controlling my diet.

5. It was a real shock

My pain started as a burning sensation, like heartburn, and quickly progressed to a sharp pain right in the middle of my abdomen, like a spear was going right through me. The pain would last for a couple of hours and I also felt very nauseated. Just as I felt I was on the verge of vomiting, the pain would go away as quickly as it came. At the onset of my third “attack” (over the course of a week) I went to the doctor and he promptly sent me to the emergency room. After examination by another doctor, they performed an ultrasound and confirmed that I had gallstones and the attacks were caused by the stones “passing”. I had surgery the next day to remove my gallbladder. It was very shocking but it had to be taken to save me from a lot of pain.
