1. Fecal incontinence

Inability to control the bowel or leaking of excretion or involuntary excretion, all point towards diarrhea. A patient of diarrhea is often not able to control his bowel and needs to visit the toilet almost like an emergency. Diarrhea makes the stool loose and also affects the muscles which results in fecal incontinence.

2. Alternating constipation

During diarrhea, a patient might experience constipation in between the frequent loose and watery stools. The person can experience problem in having a bowel movement for a day or so and, soon after, the loose and watery stools are back. This change of bowel movement may hint towards diarrhea. Incorrect digestion and loss of fluid during frequent watery stools hardens the stool and causes constipation.

3. Dizziness

A person suffering from diarrhea might feel dizzy. The person may get a feeling of almost passing out or fainting. However, this condition may not be continuously present and appears occasionally. Dizziness in diarrhea is caused due to dehydration. Frequent visits to the toilet drains out a lot of water from the body of the patient and, hence, the person suffers from dehydration that in turn leads to dizziness.

4. Blood in stool

Blood in stool is a commonly found symptom of diarrhea. There may be tinges of blood in the stool or the blood may mix with the stool and change the color of the latter. In either case, it confirms the presence of diarrhea if it occurs along with other symptoms of the disease.

5. Bloating

Bloating can be referred to as the swelling of the abdominal area, and increasing the diameter of the concerned area of the body. Bloating can make a person feel full and tight in the abdomen, and can also lead to abdominal pain. During diarrhea, the food is not properly ingested by the body of the person, which leads to bloating.

6. Nausea

Nausea, with or without vomiting, occurs in diarrhea in most of the cases. It is one of the biggest signs pointing to diarrhea. A patient of the disease may also lose his appetite due to nausea during such condition. Bloating may cause the feeling of nausea. Nausea can occur due to the presence of the bacteria that caused diarrhea.

7. Fever

Fever may occur along with diarrhea. It is not necessary that your temperature will fall. You may have a low or mild fever that may simply go unnoticed or ignored. But when it comes along with the other symptoms of diarrhea, it may be one of the pointers to the disease as well. Fever might be due to dehydration caused by the frequent stools or the infection that caused diarrhea.

8. Abdominal pain and cramps

Abdominal pain is usually present in the case of diarrhea. Abdominal cramp may also accompany abdominal pain. These are among the most common symptoms of diarrhea. Abdominal pain and cramps can be due to any infection or because of bloating that occurs during diarrhea.

9. Frequent loose or watery stools

Frequent visits to the toilet and excretion of loose or watery stools is a strong sign of diarrhea. Frequent here refers to more than three visits to the toilet in a day. Though, the number may vary from person to person. Loose or watery stools might be a result of food poisoning or some kind of allergy.
