Does my dad’s routine suffice for men’s health workout routine at his age?

My dad is a diabetic and he is 54 years old now. His height is 5’10” and he weighs 179 lbs. He usually prefers walking to driving, and his health workout routine comprises of a half an hour brisk walk in morning, and then evening. I have tried asking him to join some health forum, but he is reluctant to join any such thing and is comfortable with his daily routine. Moreover, the doctor has told him that his diabetes is under control, and he just needs to be cautious about his fitness. I want to know from some fitness expert whether this routine of my dad would suffice for what we call as men’s health workout routine at this age, and under such health conditions! Please advice aptly! Thanks.
