Drooling is mostly found in small children affected with HSV. As the pain increases due to the swelling, children tend to drool a lot. This usually disappears as the eruption gets healed.

The swollen lymph node in the neck area is another symptom associated with cold sore. This is frequently escorted alongside the first cold sore attack. If a person often gets cold sores, this condition may be less frequently present in them.

The person affected by the HSV may experience a sore mouth which creates discomfort for him/her. This may include difficulty in sleeping, food intake and water consumption. This results in the reduced intake of food and water. Also regular sleep patterns may be exaggerated.

Cold sores may be identified as trivial, excruciating, liquid-filled eruptions on an elevated, red, aching area of the skin. These red blisters are too painful and irritating when they are on the mouth, or on fingers. Cold sore eruptions generally split open, and gives out some kind of fluid, and later forms a layer over it. Deliberately the blisters get vanished within a few days.
