1. Repetitive eating

The person repeatedly eats large amount of food within short period of time. Generally, you can take this period as two hours.

2. Uncontrolled eating

People suffering from bulimia gain a feeling that they cannot control their eating behavior. They eat until the point of pain and discomfort. They will try to follow a meal chart and time, but they will fail. Sometimes, they consume so much food that their body and skin aches. Generally, they eat alone and refuse to eat with family members or other people.

3. Vomiting

They force themselves to vomit after eating a large amount of food. Even if they consume a small amount of food or snacks, they try to vomit. While vomiting these people rub their teeth, which causes blisters on the back of fingers and hands. Due to vomiting and rubbing, the hands dry up and they suffer from hair loss after some time. Acid present in the vomit could also inflame the stomach and esophagus of the person. During vomiting, they generally run water to hush the sound.

4. Exercise

The disease forces the person to exercise obsessively and he/she gets involved in it for prolonged hours.

5. Body image

They have a very negative image of their body in mind. These people think that they are larger in shape and they should indulge in heavy exercise to bring back the body into fitness.

6. Repeated bathroom visits

While suffering with bulimia, people often go to washroom while eating or after finishing their meal.

7. Mouth problems

The gums and teeth of the patient are often damaged. They suffer from dental cavities, bleeding gums, and erosion of teeth enamel. Teeth enamel damages due to the stomach acid that comes out while vomiting.

8. Swollen mouth

The salivary gland present in the cheeks of patient swells. Apart from that, sore develops in mouth and throat. One of the main reasons for sore throat is consistent vomiting after every meal.

9. Amenorrhea

If the patient is a female, then she will face menstrual irregularities (irregular periods) and even loss of menstruation.

10. Dehydration

Repeated vomiting results in loss of water from the body and can cause dehydration.

11. Depression

This is a psychological sign of bulimia that results in many types of changes in the patient including low self-esteem, frequent mood swings, and a feeling of loss of control. Apart from that, the person acts irritated without any reason, spends time alone, and wants privacy. He/she does not indulge in social activities and avoid people around them. They feel guilty and shame for their eating habits.
