1. Most memorable birthday

I got my appendix removed last Sunday. It wasnโ€™t intentional and I had planned a grand party at our farmhouse few kilometers away. Invitations were sent and preparations were almost done. I was getting calls since morning and was on sky nine as it was my special day. Suddenly I felt shooting pain in my stomach and I knew it was appendicitis. Before I could do something I fainted and when I opened my eyes I was in the hospital. Doctors suggested immediate operation as it was acute appendicitis. It was very disappointing and disheartening. I asked my sister to call my friends and other guests about cancellation of party. I was lying on bed thinking about this bad experience when suddenly saw some of my close friends standing near door with cake and candles on it. My family and I were really happy to see them. In a few minutes the whole room was full of laughter and happiness. They made my birthday very special and I can never forget that day.

2. My little source of inspiration

I am 22 years old and was operated for chronic appendicitis last week. It was quite a big deal for me as I have always hated hospitals and injections throughout my life. I was admitted to the hospital on Saturday for pre requisite tests and the same day one eight years old girl was admitted to the adjoining bed. I was really shocked to see such small girl suffering from appendicitis. Next day she was taken to the surgery room before me and I was amazed to see her courage. She was very calm and consoling her mother. I was completely astounded and her courage inspired me to have faith in God. Fear completely left me after that and I faced the challenge of being operated with strong heart.

3. My life exam

Iย am 19 and just got over with my exams. I had worked very hard to get admission in the State University. It was Sunday and I had planned to go for an outing with my friends. Plan was set and we had planned to watch a newly released movie that day. As soon as we entered the theater I felt pain on left side of my stomach. I tried to ignore it but in few minutes it got intolerable. My friends took me to the hospital and called my parents. I hate hospitals and laying on a bed like a patient was very hurtful. Doctors told my parents that it was appendicitis and the best option was to remove it. I was terrified by thought of the operation and moreover two days later I had my university entrance exam. Doctors insisted on operation and after wait of few hours I was operated. Next morning I demanded for leave and my parents also agreed as they knew state university was my dream. They accompanied me and we drove 4 hours to reach the examination center and 2 months later I found myself attending the university.

4. A loving support

I have always avoided hospitals and I am still scared of injections. Day before yesterday I woke up at 7am with tummy ache, and thought I just needed to sleep it off, so I tried but it didnโ€™t help. At quarter to 9 I got up to take hot pack and took a painkiller to kill the pain, but it didnโ€™t help. I got up to do normal toilet business, and then went back to lie down thinking it might help but by ten thirty I was in real agony. My parents took me to nearby clinic and they gave me morphine injection but I was still screaming. I was in so much pain that they had to call an ambulance, I was taken to hospital. Ultrasound and various other tests taken it showed augmented flow of blood to my appendix, so doctors decided to take it out. I was very scared and worried. The lady in the ward was continuously noticing me. She was trying to boost me up and encouraging me to be strong and brave but nothing was helping. Before I was being taken to the surgery room she came to me smiling and gave me a little pink teddy. It brought a big smile on my face and for a minute I forgot everything and got lost in her smile and sweet gesture.

5. I am proud of my children

I am 35 years working lady and mother of two children. My kids are quite small and managing household chores along with office pressure becomes quite tiring. I had so many things to worry about shifting to a bigger home, family heath issue, making kids do homework, completing office assignments, money issue etc and to add to the misery one day I got up in the morning with severe appendicitis pain. It was a Saturday, kids were home and my husband was out of station. I was in so much pain that I started screaming and couldnโ€™t move. My kids got worried but they were sensible enough to call our neighbors. I was taken to the hospital by my neighbors but I was really touched by my kidsโ€™ sensibility and so were my neighbors. Though I donโ€™t have a big house and a car but I am really proud to have such brave kids.
