Warts are extra growths of skin protruding from the body. Usually found on the hands and legs, these warts are caused by HPV2 viral infection passed on from one person to another via touch or sharing personal care items. 1. Baking Soda

The potent anti-viral properties of baking soda will kill the virus causing the warts while its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties will help the skin heal faster. Make a paste containing 1 teaspoon each of baking soda and diluted white vinegar. Apply this paste on the wart and cover it with a bandage. Wash off the paste in lukewarm water after a couple of hours and reapply the paste and bandage. Continue this remedy until the wart falls off.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains antibacterial and antiviral properties that will definitely stop the wart causing virus in its wake. Dip a cotton ball inside diluted apple cider vinegar solution. Dab the solution on the warts and wait for an hour or so before washing the area with lukewarm water. Repeat twice or thrice daily to get rid of the warts quickly.

Viruses hate acidic environments. This probably explains why lemon which is also high in anti-bacterial properties is a great DIY remedy for warts. Add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to a crushed Vitamin C tablet. Mix nicely to form a paste and apply it over the wart. Cover with a bandage and leave it on overnight. Reapply the bandage after washing off the paste the next morning. This needs to be done until the wart eventually falls off.

The anti-viral properties of basil do a great job in treating a wart at the very root of the problem, the virus that causes it. Crush ¼ cup of dried basil leaves to form a powder. Apply some honey onto the warts and cover them with a bandage. Leave them for a day and reapply the honey as well as the bandage after washing the area with lukewarm water. This should get the warts to fall off within a week or two.

7. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil contains potent antiviral properties that help fight off the HPV 2 virus causing the warts. Tea tree oil is concentrated though and needs to be mixed with carrier oil (like vegetable oils) before being used. Apply a small amount of the oil mix to the warts and cover with bandage. Keep washing the skin in lukewarm water and reapplying the paste every hour or so to get rid of the warts within a few days.

8. Turmeric

Turmeric contains a substance called curcumin, an active antibacterial and antiviral agent that can help get rid of the warts in addition to killing the virus causing them. Mix turmeric powder and water to make a fine paste. Apply this paste on the warts and wait for it to dry. Rinse the area with warm water and reapply the turmeric paste. Continue to do this until you notice the warts drying up and falling off on their own.
