Is it safe to consume sulfasalazine for ulcers in colitis?

I have been prescribed with sulfasalazine for my ulcerative colitis. I will be using this drug for the very first time and I have no idea what to expect from it! I want to know about sulfasalazine side effects from people? Earlier I was using a glucocorticoid drug for this disease but it weakend my immune system, which resulted into a number of complications for me. Now I want everybody’s help!
