It was studied that in men who were drinking 4 to 7 glasses of red wine in a week, the percent of diagnosis of prostate cancer was 52% compared to those who did not drink red wine. Some more studies revealed that red wine was effective in protecting the humans from getting affected by metastatic cancers.

Red wine is specifically found to be responsible for the reduction in risk of prostate cancer as it is known to be consisting of chemicals like resveratrol and flavonoids. These chemicals were not found in other alcoholic beverages and were having antioxidant property. These chemicals were also known to have control on the androgens which act as stimulants of prostate gland.

The prostate glands were known to reduce PSA production due to the flavonoids. This is observed to be decreasing the cellular activity. The cell growth triggering genes are also made to reduce their activity by resveratrol. The cancer cells in the prostate are killed by resveratrol.
