I am 46 years old and I am a heart patient. I was having high blood pressure earlier but now I have developed angina. My doctor had earlier prescribed me propranolol(a beta blocker) but it has some bad side effects. Now, he has come out with atenolol for me. He is saying that unlike propranolol it does not cross the blood brain barrier. I want to know how it will be any different from propranolol? I would also like to know about atenolol side effects?
