1. Increase your intake of fruits and leafy green vegetables

Fruits are effective for increasing your hemoglobin levels. For this purpose, you can consume 2 to 3 apples on a daily basis. You can either have the fruit in the raw form or else can also make a juice out of it. Having a cup of apple juice mixed with honey or sugar is also a recommended remedy for anemia. A solution which is made by combing apple juice with tomato juice is also found to provide solutions for your anemia troubles.

Falsa Fruit and dried fruits like figs and apricots are also considered to be excellent sources of iron. Another fruit which is found to have a high iron content is dates. This fruit can be had either in the fresh or in the dried form. You can also indulge in a healthy and tasty treat by making jams from dates and by adding them to cookies and cakes.

Including dark leafy greens in your diet will help in combating anemia, as they are found to be rich in iron content. 2. Have beetroot juice

3. Drink plenty of cow milk

For increased nutrition, it is recommended that you have 250 ml of cow milk which is mixed with 1 gram of sugar, 10 grams of ghee, 5 grams of honey and a pinch of black pepper. Instead of cow milk, you can also have cow buttermilk to which sugar candy is added, For quick results, it is suggested that you have at least 3 to 4 glasses of buttermilk a day.

4. Replace sugar with jaggery

In order to combat anemia, you can try replacing sugar in your diet with a rich iron source, namely jaggery. You can also have jaggery in the form of a tasty and protein rich snack, by mixing it with groundnut and roasted Bengal gram.

You can also have a combination of jaggery, black sesame seeds and milks as a remedy for anemia. The sesame seeds are to be soaked in warm water for a couple of hours. After this, grind the seeds and then mix it with a cup of hot milk to which honey or jaggery can be added.

5. Have an iron fortified breakfast

An effective method to increase the hemoglobin count in the body is by having cereals which are fortified with iron, folic acid and vitamins. You can include this in your daily breakfast and consume it along with milk.

6. Remedial measures for hard core non vegetarians

If you can’t do without having meat, then why not try to make it a bit nutritious? Red meat is found to be a good source of iron, and thus can be had by those who are trying to get a relief from anemia. Having beef, liver and turkey is seen to help the cause of anemia treatment. The iron content in these meats can be easily absorbed by the body and they are also seen to boost up one’s stamina and resistance.

For this purpose, you can have citrus fruits and vitamin supplements. You can also try cooking food in iron utensils and include more soyabean, ragi and almonds in your diet.
