1. Medications

Drugs which are mainly used to treat arthritis, chemotherapy drugs, high blood pressure, heart problems, and depression, result in hair loss. These drugs make the hair follicles weak and leads to hair loss. Contraceptive pills are also found to be a reason for hair loss. Always consult your doctor before taking any medication and ask for its side effects. If possible, try to avoid these medicines.

2. Proper sleep

Proper sleep is needed to keep your body fit. Due to lack of sleep, the body feels tired which affects hair roots. When you are tired, there is no proper blood circulation toward roots of hair, which results in hair loss. You should take at least 7-8 hours of sleep in a day. In case, you are not feeling sleepy, go for a walk rather than watching television or reading newspaper. Drinking warm milk before sleep also helps.

3. Hair washing

Hair washing is one of the most common reasons for hair loss. Combing wet hair weakens the hair roots and results in hair loss. Invest in good shampoos. Always use a mild shampoo and use conditioner after shampoo. Do not use hair dryer to dry your hair. Never tie your hair when it is wet. Let them dry and then tie. Tying up hair into a tight knot also weakens the hair follicles. Wash your hair after every 1 or 2 days in summer and after 2-3 days in winters. Massage your hair with coconut oil twice a week or before shampoo. This will increase blood circulation and also makes your hair soft and strong.

4. Hair masks

Hair masks will make oneโ€™s hair soft and strengthen hair follicles. Egg, henna, honey, yogurt with lemon and oil can be used in making a hair mask to be used once a week. Leaving the mask for 30-40 minutes and then washing helps hair, especially dry hair, from falling.

Proper blood circulation in the roots prevents hair loss. To increase blood circulation hair massage is one of the cheapest and easiest method. Using coconut/olive/almond oil for hair massage helps in controlling hair fall. Applying some oil onto the scalp and massaging in circular motions and then washing it in morning strengthens hair roots.

People experiment a lot with their hairstyle these days. They generally undergo coloring, straightening, bleaching, perming and drying. Chemicals used in all these treatments are harmful for hair and lead to hair loss. Avoiding the usage of a hair dryer, which weakens the hair, also helps in bringing hair fall under control. Using products containing natural ingredients will not damage oneโ€™s hair. Lemon or vinegar would make hair shine. Coconut oil is the best conditioner for hair. Applying it before a hair wash will make it soft and smooth.

7. Water

Hair also needs water. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day to keep your hair hydrated. Due to lack of water, they start losing their moisture which makes hair dry and brittle. Water also helps in removing toxins from the body.

A proper diet provides essential nutrients to hair follicles and strengthens them. A proper diet should include green vegetables, nuts, pulses, fruits, and dairy products. Eggs and chicken are the best sources for protein which help in strengthening hair follicles.
