Take it every day.

3. Herbs

Many herbs are known to prevent the occurrence of fibroids. Herbs like dandelion, yellow dock root, milk thistle etc. help eliminate instances of fibroids by keeping the liver strong. They help in proper metabolic action that will remove excess estrogen from the body and prevention of fibroids.

4. Food restrictions

Many foods that rich in phytoestrogens act as estrogens in the body. These are recommended by doctors for women who are undergoing menopause. However, for women with a predisposition for fibroids, these can cause rapid progression of fibroid tumors. Avoid foods like wild yam, soy products etc. which contain naturally occurring estrogen.

5. Birth control pills

Whilst some doctors prescribe birth control pills for controlling and preventing the occurrence of fibroids to regulate menstruation and hormone levels in the body, it is also known that intake of birth control pills that have high estrogen content can actually increase the growth of fibroids tremendously. Therefore, women who are predisposed to fibroids must avoid taking birth control pills altogether or use a low dose birth control pill.

6. Exercise

Exercise is required for the control of weight and reduce the estrogen in the body. For women who are overweight, at least half an hour of exercise is recommended. Light exercise regimes like walking, aerobics, use of stationary bikes etc. can help women burn calories safely without much impact. It is also good idea to hire a professional weight trainer to attain an ideal weight. Strength training exercises are good for burning fat and also developing muscle.

7. Avoid constipation

Development of endometrial fibroids has a close relation to constipation. Therefore, constipation must be avoided if you are susceptible to fibroids. Waste elimination must be regulated through the intake of fibrous foods like whole grains, bran etc. Drinking plenty of water too will prevent hardening of stool.

8. Diet restrictions

To maintain a healthy weight, diet too has to be controlled to a certain extent. Diet that is high in red meat must be prevented as his has been known to cause fibroids in women. Red meat will also increase your weight, which will again put you in the high risk category. Your diet must consist of fresh fruits, vegetables and fish in plenty as this will reduce your chances of developing fibroids. A low fat diet will also decrease the estrogen in the body.

9. Weight control

It has been noted that women who are overweight have a higher chance of developing fibroids. When women are overweight, the levels of estrogen in the body too will be high as the fat cells contain estrogen, leading to the development of fibroids. Therefore, it is very important for women who have a genetic disposition towards fibroids to keep their weight under control through regular exercise and diet. Exercise and diet will reduce the fat intake and urn unwanted calories, thereby reducing the estrogen levels in the body.
