Arthritis: Causes

Top Causes

1. Physical and mental Stress

Physical stress attributes a lot for the occurrence of arthritis as it deposits uric acid in the stiff joints and causes continuous pain in the joints. Mental stress creates hormonal imbalance in the body that causes inflammation in the joints. Uric acid secretion can also be increased due to mental stress to cause arthritis.

2. Hormonal imbalance

In arthritis, the inflammation occurs in the synovium or in the lining of the joints. This results in swelling in the joints by hormonal disorder.

3. Overactive immune system

If one’s immune system becomes more active, then it becomes a threat to various organs or cells in the human body as it starts attacking some of them. It causes dysfunctions and damage in those organs or cells it attacks. This could lead to a multisystem disease including arthritis as it attacks various tissues too.

4. Abnormal metabolism

This phenomenon is also known as gout or pseudo gout in which abnormal metabolism of uric acid takes place. It deposits excessive amount of uric acid in tissues and blood cells. The uric acid produced due to metabolism could not be removed. Excessive production of uric acid also creates problem as it destroys the cartilages by getting deposited in the joints. Uric acid also causes joint pains in the body.

5. Infections

Septic infection causes most of the arthritic issues in the human joints. Multiple gout episodes can prove to be a huge contributor for arthritis. Infection in the joints completely destroys the cartilages. The cartilage then does not remain useful enough to repair any wear and tear happening on the joints. So, it provides a good opportunity for arthritis to develop.

6. Weight

Being healthy enough might lead to some problems in one’s physical efficiency. As all of the body weight depends on the joints to get balanced, overweight hampers the joints a lot. One might suffer from joint pains by gaining enough weight. In generals, hip and knee cartilages gets worn out quickly as these are unable to bear the load.

7. Sports

There are some sports that take a huge toll on the joints resulting in joint pain. This pain gradually develops into arthritis. As sporting events require a good joint exercise, it might hamper the joint conditions. Overworking for any sporting event does cause arthritis.

8. Occupation

Occupation might also influence the out break of arthritis in human body. Professions such as heavy construction and assembly line workers face the most possible threats to suffer from arthritis. These occupations offer a lot of pressure on the joints and weakens the cartilages of the joint. So, chances of arthritis gets increased.

9. Past injuries

If the joints get fractured or broken due to some injuries, later it might prepare the joints to become prone to arthritis. The injuries do not let the joints function efficiently as they get weakened. Some irregularities might be observed in joint functions that helps arthritis to develop.

10. Heredity

Hereditary genetic structure plays a vital role causing arthritis. The genetic structure and DNA compositions do affect people to suffer from arthritis.

11. Age

Arthritis is commonly found in aged people as the joints of those people turn weak in course of time and function. As cartilage becomes weak with the growing age, it loses its capacity to get repaired when any wear and tear happens. So, age is the biggest factor of this disease to occur.
