Lymph Nodes Groin?

I don’t know how to say this but from few days I felt some type of swelling in my groin region, I don’t know why this swelling has occurred. Well, the swelling is on both the sides and it pains terribly, whenever I walk, it feels as if something is out of the way and piercing me badly. I talked about this problem with a close friend who is also a doctor, he said this is because of the swelling of the lymph nodes groin and will be okay in few days. Will it really be fine? Please elaborate.
