Knee Pain Exercises

Hi everyone! I am a long distance runner for my country and I have won many medals for my country. One of my problems has brought me to this plateform. I have been suffering from this disconcerting knee pain for the last one month now. Its an on and off kindof pain but its there. Should I go for an X-ray to know whats wrong or should I wait for some time? I also want to know some knee pain exercises?
