Besides overripe fruits foods such as soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, tomatoes, banana peels and sauerkraut also contain high tyramine which is not good for migraine headaches.

You must also avoid food such as processed meat, certain type of beans, nuts, seeds, canned soups, cured meats, salami, unpasteurized beer, chocolates, red wine, some yeast extracts, etc. When you start to avoid food rich in tyramine you will notice a drastic reduction in your migraine attacks.

2. Avoid a few beans

A few beans are not said to be good for migraine attacks, they initiate migraine or make it even worse. You must avoid fava beans, fermented bean curds, Chinese pea pods, Italian beans, fermented soya beans, Miso soup, soy sauce and tofu. Simply avoid these beans.

3. Avoid some cheeses

A few cheeses are a terror for your migraine headache. You must avoid mozzarella, Swiss, processed, Muenster, stilton, feta, blue, brie, gorgonzola and parmesan cheese. In fact there are a few cheeses that you can have for example cottage cheese, processed cheese slices, and also cream cheese.

4. Avoid foods with nitrite

Nitrite is another element that triggers migraine. A few foods containing nitrite are very bad for your headache. These foods include ranges of meats such as, bologna, hot dogs, cured meat, sausages, ham, corned beef, salami, smoked salmon, luncheon meats and also bacon drippings. You must also avoid a few vegetables that contain nitrite these vegetables are spinach, radish and lettuce.

5. Avoid foods with sulfite

Sulfite starts migraine and hence is not good for people suffering from migraine. You must avoid dry fruits such as apricots, prunes, figs and wine. You must also avoid processed food, canned vegetables, molasses, pickled cocktail onions and also grape juice as they are rich in sulfite.

6. Avoid food with tannins

MSG is a kind of preservative found in packaged foods such as salad dressings, chips, stock seasonings, hot dogs bouillon and spices. You must also avoid additives such as hydrolyzed vegetable proteins, hydrolyzed plant proteins, kombu extract and also natural flavorings

8. Avoid food containing artificial sweeteners such as aspartame

Artificial sweeteners are found in cold and hot beverages, sugar free food and low calorie food. Aspartame is not supposed to be good for migraine and is also known as nutra sweet, equal measures, equal and also spoonful. Avoid them to avoid migraine headache.

9. Avoid caffeine and alcohol

Too much of caffeine is not good for migraine. In fact if you abruptly withdraw from consuming caffeine you increase your chances of migraine attacks. To avoid caffeine you must avoid coffee, tea, chocolate, soda, hot chocolate and a few medicines. Alcohol causes migraine because it contains tyramine, which is not good for migraine headaches

10. Other foods that need to be avoided

A few nuts such as peanuts and brazil nuts need to be avoided. You must also avoid pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds. Completely avoid sourdoughs, organ meat, bakery products such as bread and some cultured dairy products. If you are suffering from migraine headaches you must avoid, skipping your meals, fasting and dehydration as it can trigger migraine.

Simply watch what you eat. Keep a diary and note the food that you eat. Any food that leads to triggering migraine headache needs to be noted. If you notice a pattern or a particular food that causes migraine, cut down on that food or completely stop consumption of that food. If you stop consuming food that triggers migraine, the frequency of your migraine attacks will reduce.
