1. The turning point

Six months back doctor told me that I have been suffering from fatigue syndrome. It was very depressing and disheartening as I was engaged and thought it would strain my relationships with my fiance. Knowing the fact and imagining its consequences I constantly started feeling drained and tired. Somehow I collected strength to share all this with my fiance and listening to all this he forgot his own career and financial problems and started doing an amazing job in taking care of me. Though I feel old but seeing him by my side all the time is my strength. I have realized that he is a gem of person and I might not be lucky to have physical fitness but I am very lucky to have a life partner like him.

2. Magic words

I have been suffering from CFS since a very young age. I always wanted to live a normal life but weak muscles and poor concentration never allowed me to do so. This problem aggravated with time so much so that I had to leave my studies. Life became very hard and I hated my life and everything around. It was like a burden that I was dragging without any wish to live. Then last month my sister introduced me to the Buddhism. In the beginning I resisted but then few meetings were fixed at my place. People of this association are really compassionate and their experiences moved me. I never knew that just chanting the magical words โ€œNam Myoho Renge kyoโ€ would completely change my life. I started feeling energy and positivity within myself and I chanted for hours and hours. I have also taken admission in BA Psychology and have encouraged three more people to join Buddhism. I am looking forward to be an integral part of Soka Gakki International and contribute in its growth in every possible way.

3. A book did it all

Living with chronic fatigue syndrome is very challenging for both patient as well as family members. I am one of those people who have been suffering from this problem since last 10 years. It affected my career, financial status and even my lifestyle. My family made lots of adjustments for me but I deliberately created distance from my close friends and family members. I could not concentrate on anything, could not sleep, my muscles remained strained all the time, headache didnโ€™t leave scope of any mental activity. Seeing my depressed state of mind and distress, few days back one of my cousins gifted me a book on happiness. It is named as The Ultimate Happiness Prescription by Deepak Chopra. It actually helped me in realizing true happiness. The book uncover the seven keys to discover the true secrets of joy in the most crucial and difficult times. I could totally relate to it and it has helped me in inculcating positive thoughts. Though it has nothing to do with my medical condition but I feel relaxed and suffer from fewer headaches. I stay happy and think happy.

4. Positive thinking worked best

I am 48 years old and I’ve have been suffering from CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) for a number of years now. I am a house wife but I did try to work few years back. I could not continue work as I could not get rid of my sore throat and swollen neck. I became a slow worker because of brain fog and lagged behind in the competition. I could not sleep properly even if I was badly exhausted. Leaving my job was very upsetting for me as I always wanted to live an independent life. But I never gave up. I started keeping myself indulged in various activities like gardening, taking care of pets, reading books etc. I searched for people suffering from same problem on groups like Facebook and other networking sites and I have joined various CFR supporting groups. Lately I also started taking help from self help books that keep my thoughts lighter and brighter. I have realized that thoughts play a major role in overcoming any problem and I always try my level best to generate positive and lively thoughts.

5. Good company is the best solution

Iโ€™m a musician by profession. I love playing and teaching music. All day long Iโ€™m surrounded by youth who very keenly look up to me to teach them the tunes in their heads. Itโ€™s a great job I wonโ€™t disagree but living up to the expectations of youngsters is no mean feat. I have to stay on my toes figuratively and literally while keeping my musical ear ever ready and attentive. Hours go by with no memory of having meals. The main objective is to have productive sessions with students. Needless to say, all this adds up pressure and fatigue. But I have my support system which rejuvenates me all over again. I have a lovely girlfriend. A doll she is. At the end of the day sheโ€™s right there with me on Skype, listening to every little detail about the day, commending me, motivating me and being there for me entirely. Iโ€™m blessed. Itโ€™s a lucky thing having her. My stress busters also include a lovely dinner with mum and dad, full of chit chat and a treat for the taste buds. So to all the workaholics out there fighting fatigue, I would strongly suggest letting go of gadgets and television and magazines and other such stuff to do the trick, rather look for comfort in your loved ones, your life will be rich and blissful.
