2. Cataract can cause sleeping disorder

Blue light helps induce sleepiness and scientists have found a link between blue light transmission in the back of the eye via retina and sleep. A hormone called melatonin is released in the brain with the help of blue light which in turn helps induce sleep. Cataract hampers this blue light to enter the back of the eye and causes sleeping disorders among patients. Scientists have found out that patients who had undergone cataract removal showed significant improvement of sleep. However, further study in this field is required.
