1. Formation of a white or a yellow film on the tongue

The anaerobic bacteria accumulate in nearly every corner of the mouth and result in the formation of this film on your tongue. The posterior portion of the tongue has greater chances of being prone to it. The size of your taste buds is also a factor that would decide the extent of the formation of this film. The larger the size of your taste buds, the more are the chances that you will be prone to the formation of this film easily.

2. Dryness of mouth

The main cause of a dry mouth is less intake of water. It is recommended that at least ten glasses of water should be drunk every day. Also, the patients who are in a habit of taking medications for different kinds of illness are prone to bad breath due to dryness of mouth. When you have a dry mouth, the bacteria may get more concentrated and this increased concentration results in a greater intensity of bad breath even at longer distances. If you are a regular user of a mouth rinse solution, then you might be aware that some of these solutions also contain alcohol in them. Thus, they may result in dryness of mouth. A good solution to this problem can be the chewing of gum that does not contains any sugar. It would improve the flow of saliva and thus stop the formation of bacteria to greater extent.

A dental infection can be the major cause for such a taste in your mouth. Also, the drainage that occurs through the sinus is a cause that results in such tastes. The kind of taste experienced may differ from person to person depending on the kind of situation that has led to the formation of such a taste in the mouth.

There are situations in which people suffer from various kinds of allergies. These allergies are responsible for a post nasal drainage and thus ultimately resulting in a bad breath. Mucous may be drained from the sinus and the individual suffering from it may actually be unaware of this situation.

If you suffer from tonsils, you are bound to suffer from a bad breath because of the swallowing of the nodules without being aware of them. They can be detected even from a greater distance by the person standing before you.

Frequent brushing may be a habit that you may find good but actually it can increase your chances of being prone to a bad breath. Brushing makes your mouth dry and thus causes the sulfur compounds to evaporate easily in the air. This would ultimately result in a bad breath.

The liver is often not able to remove harmful toxins. The harmful consumption of toxins such as arsenic, nickel and mercury through contamination in our food and water may also lead to bad liver health which causes bad breath. Diabetic patients may also face the problem of bad breath which is caused due to the the release of sulphur compounds.

9. Poor hygiene

Poor hygiene is one of the common reasons for bad breath. Use of tobacco, cigarettes can lead to mouth odors. The most common reason is the food debris behind the teeth that causes build-up of bacteria. Some other reasons can be gastro problems, metabolic disorders, respiratory tract infections, infections in the mouth, etc.
